This performance starts off a little bit...um...How do I say it? Eye rolling, but good. He says "this piece was written by Mr. George Harrison". But his playing is smooth and loose, so I stuck with it. I'm glad I did. Check out the ending. Now that's up my alley.

Erik Mongrain



An open major tuning with nice syncopated rhythms, tapped harmonics, and occasional strums. Most children that I teach desire to play in this posture much more than the traditional posture. I hate making them sit up straight and normal with the guitar under their arm (but I do make them), and this video shows exactly why.

 

Hello

I am a huge fan of the acoustic guitar. The more I play it the more incredible I find it. It is difficult for me to describe how I see it, but as I attempt, I will be putting some examples of what I think is great guitar playing off of youtube, some amateurs and some professionals. Each of these performances blew my mind open and set the bar higher for what I consider good guitar playing...beautiful, groundbreaking...but most importantly, I can feel the impression of hours of devotion in the techniques and music.

So we'll begin with...
